All eyes will be on Group D as it contains one of the host nations in the shape of the USA. With home advantage they will be confident of progressing to the knock out rounds after the draw placed them alongside Australia, Paraguay and Türkiye.

World Cup Group D

With potentially three teams advancing from the group all four of them will fancy their chances, in what looks like an open contest according to the best World Cup betting sites. Indeed, the odds suggest all four teams have a very realistic possibility of escaping this group.

USA

Favourites to top the group, probably due to historic advantage playing at home has provided teams in the World Cup over the years, the American team will be determined to ensure their party isn't over after just three games. Türkiye

Türkiye are second favourites to top the group, but probably have a more talented squad than the USA do. Paraguay

Realistically playing for the one of those best third place qualifying positions, their game with Australia will likely be crucial to their chances of progress. Paraguay's aim will probably be to try to pick up a point against Türkiye or the USA, then do what they need to in that all important final group game with Australia.

Australia

The clear outsiders of the group, it was always difficult to judge how good Australia were as a team due to their soft qualifying schedule. But now they have moved to the Asian confederation and play matches at a higher level regularly has raised their level. Recent wins against Japan and Saudi Arabia show they can't be underestimated by their Group D opponents.
