Ryan Moore Biography
Ryan Lee Moore has had racing in his blood since birth. Born in Brighton on the south coast of England, he is the son of former jockey and current trainer, Gary Moore and is grandson of trainer Charlie Moore and brother to fellow jockeys Jamie, Joshua and Hayley. Ryan was just four years old when he first started riding and actually credits the legendary jump jockey, A.P McCoy, as having had a huge effect on him as a young rider. McCoy would be in Moore senior’s yard riding out, and his work ethic was an eye-opener for the budding jockey, and it was a similar hard-working attitude and a brilliant racing brain that led him to become one of the most sought-after young jockeys on the circuit. Richard Hannon was the first trainer he would have a successful connection with before moving on to ride some of the best horses for Sir Michael Stoute. He would become champion apprentice in 2003, before going on to capture the jockey’s championship in 2006, 2008 and 2009.
However, it was when teaming up with Aidan O’Brien and the Coolmore breeding setup that he would come to dominate Group 1 races around the globe and ensure his mounts would always be among the favorites at the best betting sites.
Ryan has a total of 14 Classic wins to his name, 11 of which have been for O’Brien. All nine of his Irish Classic wins have also come for the master of Ballydoyle, and there is also a long list of Royal Ascot wins for the pair. They have also regularly teamed up for victory in the US at the Breeders' Cup.
So we know that Ryan Moore is loved among the top trainers and favourite backers around the world, but one group of people that have a very strained relationship with the top jockey are the media. Moore is notoriously difficult to deal with for the journalistic profession.
